Abjad Ḥawaz (أبجد هوز) trägt seinen Namen nach der alten Reihenfolge des arabischen Alphabets. Durch den Körper von Salma Zahore wird jeder einzelne Buchstabe in den Ruinen Barcelonas tänzerisch interpretiert und verkörpert. Der Film verbindet Mode, Musik, Poesie und Performance und eignet sich eine Sprache neu an, die häufig mit Angst und Missverständnissen belegt ist. Dabei verwandelt er sie in eine Feier von Identität, Widerstandskraft und künstlerischer Freiheit.
Abjad Ḥawaz (أبجد هوز) takes its name from the ancient ordering of the Arabic alphabet. Through the body of Salma Zahore, each letter is danced and embodied in the ruins of Barcelona. Blending fashion, music, poetry, and performance, the film reclaims a language often feared and misunderstood, turning it into a celebration of identity, resilience, and artistic freedom.

I write in Arabic,
and they read terrorism.
I speak in Arabic,
and they hear fear.
But my language is not a crime.
My language is richness and poetry.
My language is sky and sea.
My language is a body that dances,

// Hadi Moussally ist ein 1987 im Libanon geborener multidisziplinärer Künstler, der zwischen Paris und Barcelona lebt und in den Bereichen Film, Fotografie, Performance und Mixed Media arbeitet. Er studierte Spielfilm sowie Dokumentar- und ethnografischen Film in Paris. Seine Arbeiten verbinden Fiktion, Dokumentarfilm, Mode, Tanz und experimentelles Kino und beschäftigen sich insbesondere mit Identität, Erinnerung und Körper. Seine Filme wurden auf mehr als 550 internationalen Festivals gezeigt und mit über 70 Preisen ausgezeichnet. Zu seinen bekannten Arbeiten zählen Bellydance Vogue, Space Woman und La Casquette. Seine visuellen Arbeiten wurden unter anderem im Guggenheim Bilbao, im Victoria and Albert Museum, im Institut du Monde Arabe und bei der UNESCO in Paris präsentiert.
Hadi Moussally is a multidisciplinary artist, born in Lebanon in 1987 and currently based between Paris and Barcelona. Working across film, photography, performance, and mixed media, he studied fiction filmmaking as well as documentary and anthropological cinema in Paris. His work combines fiction, documentary, fashion, dance, and experimental cinema, with a particular focus on identity, memory, and the body. His films have been screened at more than 550 international festivals and have received over 70 awards. Notable works include Bellydance Vogue, Space Woman, and La Casquette. His visual work has been presented at institutions including the Guggenheim Bilbao, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Institut du Monde Arabe, and UNESCO in Paris.
