This year’s programme was developed in collaboration with guest curators—artists and programmers who have been active in the dance film scene for many years. Drawing on their extensive experience and networks, they bring international and regional perspectives into dialogue and contribute distinct artistic and cultural contexts to the programme.
We are very excited about this curatorial approach and grateful for the collaboration with Elysa Wendi, Mayo Rodríguez Baeza, Louise Coetzer and Oscar O’Ryan.

Das diesjährige Programm wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit Gastkurator*innen entwickelt – Künstler*innen und Programmgestalter*innen, die seit vielen Jahren in der Tanzfilmszene aktiv sind. Aus ihrer umfassenden Erfahrung und ihren Netzwerken heraus bringen sie internationale und regionale Perspektiven miteinander in Dialog und bereichern das Programm um unterschiedliche künstlerische und kulturelle Kontexte.

ELYSA WENDI
Elysa Wendi is an artist, filmmaker and curator based in Hong Kong and Singapore. Having grown up in different parts of Southeast Asia, her nomadic childhood and way of life have had a lasting influence on her artistic practice.
Working across hybrid documentary, audiovisual essays and metachoreographic rituals, Wendi explores memory, displacement and biographical traces in relation to bodies, places, languages and histories. Her films have been presented internationally, including at Berlinale Forum Expanded, Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival, Image Forum Tokyo, EXiS Seoul and Le FIFA Montreal.
Trained as a dancer and choreographer, she investigates choreographic and performative possibilities through film, curatorial projects and other artistic interventions. In 2015, she co-founded Cinemovement with Singaporean film producer Jeremy Chua. Since 2022, Wendi has curated for Jumping Frames – Hong Kong International Movement-image Festival and Indonesia Bertutur Layarambha Dance Film Festival.

Elysa Wendi ist Künstlerin, Filmemacherin und Kuratorin mit Sitz in Hongkong und Singapur. Aufgewachsen in verschiedenen Teilen Südostasiens, haben ihre nomadische Kindheit und Lebensweise ihre künstlerische Praxis nachhaltig geprägt.
In hybriden Dokumentarfilmen, audiovisuellen Essays und metachoreografischen Ritualen beschäftigt sich Wendi mit Erinnerung, Verlagerung und biografischen Spuren im Verhältnis zu Körpern, Orten, Sprachen und historischen Erzählungen. Ihre Filme wurden international präsentiert, unter anderem beim Berlinale Forum Expanded, beim Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival, beim Image Forum Tokyo, bei EXiS Seoul und bei Le FIFA Montreal.
Als ausgebildete Tänzerin und Choreografin erforscht sie choreografische und performative Möglichkeiten im Medium Film, in kuratorischen Projekten und weiteren künstlerischen Interventionen. 2015 gründete sie gemeinsam mit dem singapurischen Filmproduzenten Jeremy Chua die Plattform Cinemovement. MAYO RODRÍGUEZ BAEZA
Mayo Rodríguez Baeza is an artist, dancer-performer, curator and engineer specialising in environmental strategies, the circular economy and sustainability. She is Artistic Director of Bestias Danzantes Dance Film Festival, a Chilean platform dedicated to the presentation, circulation and experimentation of dance cinema.
Her artistic practice creates spaces of emotional connection by bringing together movement, body, sound and language. She is part of the Chilean project rodriguez_romero and the Chilean-German project nissrodriguez, developed through intercultural collaborations with Carla Romero and Ann-Leonie Niss.
In collaboration with sound artist Ian Jakab, she developed the research and performance project S.O.S Space of Silence, presented in Munich in 2024. As a curator, she has developed and contributed to more than 26 dance and dance film programmes for festivals, biennials and unconventional spaces across Europe and South America.

Mayo Rodríguez Baeza ist Künstlerin, Tänzerin-Performerin, Kuratorin und Ingenieurin mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Umweltstrategien, Kreislaufwirtschaft und Nachhaltigkeit. Sie ist Künstlerische Leiterin des Bestias Danzantes Dance Film Festival, einer chilenischen Plattform für die Präsentation, Verbreitung und Erprobung von Tanzfilm.
In ihrer künstlerischen Praxis schafft sie Räume emotionaler Verbindung, indem sie Bewegung, Körper, Klang und Sprache zusammenführt. Sie ist Teil des chilenischen Projekts rodriguez_romero und des chilenisch-deutschen Projekts nissrodriguez, die aus der interkulturellen Zusammenarbeit mit Carla Romero und Ann-Leonie Niss hervorgegangen sind.
Gemeinsam mit dem Soundkünstler Ian Jakab entwickelte sie das Recherche- und Performanceprojekt S.O.S Raum der Stille, das 2024 in München präsentiert wurde. Als Kuratorin hat sie an mehr als 26 Tanz- und Tanzfilmprogrammen für Festivals, Biennalen und unkonventionelle Orte in Europa und Südamerika mitgewirkt.
LOUISE COETZER & OSCAR O’RYAN
Louise Coetzer, dancer and choreographer, and Oscar O’Ryan, photographer and filmmaker, combine their respective practices in a dynamic artistic partnership. In 2010, they founded DARKROOM CONTEMPORARY, a project-based company that reimagines dance through contemporary performance, film and digital media.
Their interdisciplinary projects bring together dancers, visual artists, musicians, designers and filmmakers while creating opportunities for artistic exchange and professional development.
Louise Coetzer is a multidisciplinary dance artist working across site-specific performance, digital and live art, stage choreography and dance film. Her experiential and experimental work is rooted in interdisciplinary practice.
Oscar O’Ryan is a photographer and filmmaker specialising in movement, dance and reportage-based visual storytelling. His projects aim to strengthen the visibility of dance as an art form.

Die Tänzerin und Choreografin Louise Coetzer und der Fotograf und Filmemacher Oscar O’Ryan verbinden ihre jeweiligen Arbeitsfelder in einer dynamischen künstlerischen Partnerschaft. 2010 gründeten sie DARKROOM CONTEMPORARY, eine projektbasierte Company, die Tanz durch zeitgenössische Performance, Film und digitale Medien neu denkt.

Louise Coetzer ist eine multidisziplinäre Tanzkünstlerin, die in den Bereichen ortsspezifische Performance, digitale Kunst, Livekunst, Bühnenchoreografie und Tanzfilm arbeitet. Ihre erfahrungsorientierten und experimentellen Arbeiten basieren auf einer interdisziplinären Praxis.
Oscar O’Ryan ist Fotograf und Filmemacher mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Bewegung, Tanz und reportagebasiertem visuellem Erzählen. Mit seinen Projekten möchte er die Sichtbarkeit von Tanz als Kunstform stärken.
