POOL showcases inspiring dance films that blend physical and cinematic movement, creating unique film choreographies.The festival opens a space for exchange among artists from various fields who explore the interplay between dance, film, visual art, music, and fashion, providing the audience with kinesthetic experiences through the moving canvas.
Founded in 2007, POOL has developed a unique curatorial line, combining the presentation of current movement-based films, next to specially featured artworks and artist portraits through the format POOL Shine.
SUBMISSION DATE
The festival accepts submissions on a rolling basis year-round. To ensure consideration for the upcoming 19th edition, submissions should be made by 22 July 2026.
APPLICATION MATERIALS
Films can be submitted online via our entry form, where we ask you to provide a preview link to your film.
If your film is chosen for the program, we will kindly request you to send us the following material:
– Screening copy of the film
– Signed online application form
– 2-3 digital film stills
– Optional: trailer and CV
PROGRAM AND PEARLS
Curated from the film submissions, our artistic network, and in collaboration with guest curators, POOL features current artistic positions and perspectives in dance film. The selected films, the PEARLS, are showcased across three evenings and reflect the diversity, creativity, and the thematic range of the dance film medium.
Films should not exceed 30 minutes in length and should be conceived as cinematic works that engage with movement, rather than as mere documentation of a performance.
Longer films may be taken into consideration for special programs.
ARTIST FEE
Each production shown at the festival receives an artist fee of € 180 (net).
JOIN THE FESTIVAL IN PERSON
The festival’s aim is to be a meeting point for artists working at the interface of dance and film. All selected productions are cordially invited to join the screenings and their following get-together events in person. We support artists’ travel fees up to an amount and offer free accommodation in the guest rooms of EDEN*****.
PARTNERS & COLLABORATIONS
Throughout the year POOL cooperates with various venues and partners, such as b12 Festival, presenting selected films and thematic programs in the framework of diverse art events.

PROFIL
Der Fokus des Festivals liegt auf Filmen, die aus dem engen Zusammenspiel filmischer und tänzerischer Bewegung eigenständige Filmchoreographien entstehen lassen – als kritische Reflexionen, Resonanzen und Imaginationen unserer Zeit, vermittelt durch Körper und Bewegung im Medium Film.
2007 gegründet, zeichnet sich POOL durch seine kuratorische Linie aus, die die Präsentation aktueller bewegungsbasierter Filme und gezielt in den Fokus gerückte künstlerische Arbeiten und Portraits im Format POOL Shine verbindet.
FRISTEN
Einreichungen für POOL sind ganzjährig über das Onlineanmeldeformular möglich. Filme für die aktuelle 19. Edition von POOL können bis zum 22. Juli 2026 eingereicht werden.
FILMEINREICHUNGEN
Filmeinreichungen sind online über unser Anmeldeformular möglich. Dort kann der Sichtungslink zum Film angegeben werden.
Sollte der Film für das Programm ausgewählt werden, benötigen wir folgende Materialien:
– Vorführkopie des Films
– das unterschriebene Onlineformular
– 2-3 Filmstills
– Optional: Trailer und Biografien
PROGRAMM UND PEARLS
Kuratiert aus den Einreichungen, einem gewachsenen künstlerischen Netzwerk, sowie im Verbund mit Gastkuratorinnen präsentiert das Festival an drei Abenden aktuelle künstlerische Positionen und Perspektiven des Tanzfilms. Die ausgewählten Filme, die PEARLS, werden an drei Festivalabenden präsentiert und spiegeln die Vielfalt, Kreativität und thematischen Bandbreite der Kunstform Tanzfilm wider.
Eingreichte Filme sollten eine Länge von 30 Minuten nicht überschreiten und als eigenständige Arbeiten konzipiert sein, nicht Dokumentation einer Performance sein.
Längere Arbeiten werden gegebenenfalls für spezielle Formate berücksichtigt.
KÜNSTLER*INNENHONORAR
Für jede gezeigte Produktion steht ein Künstler*innenhonorar von 180 € (netto) zur Verfügung.
FESTIVALBESUCH
POOL versteht sich als ein Treffpunkt für Künstler*innen, die an der Schnittstelle von Tanz und Film arbeiten. Die ausgewählten Produktionen sind zu allen Screenings und zum anschließenden gemeinsamen Austausch eingeladen. Wir übernehmen anteilig Reisekosten und bieten kostenfreie Unterbringung in den Gästezimmern des EDEN*****.
PARTNER UND KOLLABORATIONEN
Über die Festivaltage hinaus arbeitet POOL mit verschiedenen Partnern zusammen, wie z.B. dem b12 Festival, und präsentiert ausgewählte Filme und thematische Programme an unterschiedlichen Kunst- und Veranstaltungsorten.
